Black Introduces Bill To Make HOA Dues
Tax Deductible

As the 1999 Virginia General Assembly reconvenes, Delegate Dick Black will introduce legislation to make homeowners association dues tax deductible.  "Making HOA dues tax deductible will put HOAs on an even footing with governmental entities that provide tax-deductible services," Delegate Black explained.
Homeowners associations (HOAs) provide important services to local residents.  Open space management, recreation services, storm water control, trash removal and many other critical services are handled by HOAs.  These services are similar to those provided by our local governments in areas that are not serviced by HOAs.  However, unlike taxes paid to local governments which provide these services, homeowners' association dues are not tax deductible.

"Making HOA dues a tax-deductible expense would allow families living in HOA communities to keep more of their hard-earned money and would make it easier for HOAs to collect HOA dues," Black continued.

Delegate Black is asking HOAs in Loudoun, Fairfax and throughout the Commonwealth to pass a resolution supporting HOA dues deductibility.
